Job Summary
Lead group fitness classes for the ASI Recreation Fitness Department, guiding warm-ups, stretching, activity, and cool-downs for participants of all ages and fitness levels. Welcome attendees, conduct participant counts, and perform setup and takedown for sessions. Ensure safety through heart rate assessments, demonstrating correct form, modifying intensity, and responding to injuries with first aid support. Maintain certifications, enforce center policies, and communicate timely with staff and supervisors. Attend meetings and training. Available for two one-hour classes weekly throughout the semester, with variable shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Background in fitness, health, recreation, or related field
- Experience leading group exercise classes
- Experience promoting safe exercise techniques
- Experience modifying workouts
- Experience engaging diverse participants
- Knowledge of recreation and fitness activities
- Ability to connect well with students
- Willingness to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and volunteers
- Customer skills
- Dependability
- Punctuality
- Enhanced leadership skills
- Ability to work in a diverse environment
- Currently holds minimum certification in one or more of the following entities: ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, NASM or reasonable substitute
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Must be available to teach a minimum of two- 1-hour classes per week for the duration of the semester hired throughout the academic year
- Ability to physically complete the demands of the class being taught

- Ability to occasionally walk to other offices within the building and around the campus
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
