Job Summary
Non-exempt, part-time Group Exercise Instructor responsible for designing and delivering high-quality group exercise classes in accordance with class descriptions, industry and certification standards. Responsibilities include teaching assigned classes safely and effectively, updating content regularly, maintaining professionalism and a positive, encouraging mindset, providing individual and group corrections, welcoming new participants, and promoting a supportive club environment. Must manage class scheduling, participate in team communications, operate equipment as needed, and adhere to club policies. Qualifications emphasize current certifications, ongoing education, CPR/AED certification, California Harassment Training within 90 days, reliable transportation, teaching experience, strong cueing and communication skills, and knowledge of proper body mechanics and alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Reliable transportation to work
- Hold a current certification with a nationally recognized exercise association or a certification in a specific discipline meeting industry standards (e.g., Pilates, yoga, NIA, kickboxing, cycling, Qigong, etc.)
- Maintain certification through attendance at continuing education workshops and seminars
- Complete the California Anti-Harassment Training within 90 days of hire
- CPR/AED certification at hire or within 90 days of hire (recertification not required)
- Have teaching experience in group exercise or related field
- Strong leadership, cueing, vocal quality, and correctional technique skills
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics, body alignment, spine and joints
- Ability to perform all exercises with proper form and alignment
- Excellent English communication skills (speaking, writing, reading)
