Job Summary
Group Engineering Manager for Operations Engineering at Employment Hero. Lead and grow the Operations Engineering group, driving automation, internal tooling, and AI-enabled solutions across internal domains. Set engineering standards, oversee delivery health, and ensure security, reliability, and maintainability. Coach Engineering Managers and Leads, hire and develop engineers, and align squads with product owners and stakeholders. Champion AI adoption and workflow automation, identify high-value automation opportunities, and partner with Architecture and AI peers. Maintain metrics, runbooks, and strong cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Legal, People, and other internal functions. Remote-first, with global team distribution across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and Vietnam, and a commitment to flexible, autonomous work patterns.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience leading engineering teams — ideally multiple squads or a group
- Proven track record delivering automation, internal tooling, or AI-augmented systems with measurable business value
- Ability to translate strategic direction from senior stakeholders into clear engineering outcomes
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to manage senior leaders' expectations
- Experience hiring and developing engineers and investing in their growth
- Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and delegation
- Comfort navigating a complex, multi-team organization with cross-functional dependencies
