Job Summary
Groundsperson role within Northumbria University’s Grounds Team. Responsible for hands-on grounds maintenance across campus sites, including grass cutting, edging, weeding, planting, hedge trimming, litter control, and basic repairs. Operates powered hand tools and university vehicles, performs winter maintenance such as snow clearance and gritting, and adheres to health and safety requirements. Requires PA1/PA6 spraying certificates (or equivalent), full UK driving licence, and preferably NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or Landscaping; additional training such as PASMA or First Aid is desirable. Must be able to work independently, manage day-to-day workload, and support service delivery across multiple sites. Located at Newcastle upon Tyne or London with on-site, full-time employment and flexible working arrangements as part of a larger facilities team.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in grounds maintenance or horticultural services
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates (or equivalent)
- Full UK driving licence
- NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Horticulture or Landscaping
- PASMA, First Aid, or similar relevant training
- Experience working across multiple sites or in a customer-facing environment
