Job Summary

Oversee daily grounds operations for Rivier University by supervising a team of four groundskeepers, assigning work, and inspecting completed projects for quality and safety. Coordinate subcontractors for snow removal and seasonal cleanup, while personally assisting with mowing, trimming, and irrigation system maintenance. Operate lawn equipment, manage inventory, and utilize reporting systems to track performance and communicate updates to university stakeholders. Ensure all operations meet contractual requirements and promote safe work practices in varying weather conditions. This critical role directly impacts the student and visitor experience within the campus environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, horticulture, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or directing employees in an outdoor maintenance environment.
  • Working knowledge of irrigation systems, grounds maintenance practices, and landscape equipment.
  • Experience operating and maintaining lawn and groundskeeping equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and basic computer technology.
  • Ability to review inspection reports and communicate operational updates.
  • Experience managing employee performance, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Availability to work Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM, with flexibility for weather-related events and snow removal operations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience leading grounds or landscape crews.
  • Experience working in a university, campus, healthcare, or large commercial property environment.
  • Knowledge of seasonal landscape planning and snow management operations.
  • Experience coordinating contractors or vendor relationships.
