Job Summary
Maintain cemetery grounds by clearing debris, cutting grass, trimming walkways, and performing snow removal while ensuring all drives and memorial markers remain pristine. Assist with interments, entombments, and inurnments by locating grave sites, erecting tents, preparing crypts, and operating backhoes or casket lifts under supervision to dig graves and install headstones. Repair existing markers, clean facilities, and service equipment while adhering to OSHA regulations and safety guidelines. Work across nine locations in Chicagoland, requiring a valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
- Favorable driving record
- High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience
- Minimum one year of relevant experience operating small, motorized equipment (i.e. weed eaters, chain saws, edger, leaf blowers, pumps, etc.)
- Self-motivated
- High energy
- Customer-focused perspective
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate and understand basic English
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to a shovel, pick, rake, sledgehammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer and leaf blower
- Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, yardstick, etc.)
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift top 60 lbs.
- Ability to lift to 150 with equipment assistance
- Ability to push and pull up to 300 lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to multi-task
