Groundskeeper (PRN-as needed)

Job Summary
Maintain plants and grounds by mowing, trimming, planting, seeding, fertilizing, weeding, and irrigating. Safely operate standard yard tools and heavy power equipment including riding mowers, zero turn mowers, snow blowers, and salt spreaders. Perform snow and ice control by plowing roads, parking lots, and sidewalks, as well as shoveling snow and spreading salt and ice melt. Assist with pressure washing, mulching, leaf cleanup, and trash removal. Serve as primary relief for evening, night, and weekend Security/Watch staff and Transportation Staff. Maintain clear walkways and roads while ensuring equipment is properly maintained. This PRN role supports the Facilities Services Team at a life plan community serving older adults in the Quaker tradition.
Required Qualifications
- knowledge of, interest in, and/or a desire for a career in plant science, horticulture, landscape design, tree care, turn management and plant care procedures
- valid operator's license
- insurable with Kendal's insurance carrier
- well organized
- capable of producing quality workmanship
- significant experience using heavy outdoor equipment for lawn care and snow removal: riding mowers, zero turn mowers, salt spreaders, etc.
- physically able to walk long distances, dig, shovel, climb, bend, push, stoop, pull, crawl. lift and carry heavy weights and operate grounds power equipment, etc.
- significant experience with snow & ice control and removal
