Job Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance and health of plants, trees, flowers, and lawns. Key responsibilities include pruning, mowing, trimming, planting, shoveling, watering, pressure washing, fertilizing, digging, raking, weeding, sod laying, and tidying gardens. The role also involves assisting in the setup and takedown for winery events, maintaining gardens of winery residences, and participating in the upkeep and repair of grounds and equipment. Candidates should possess previous horticultural or landscaping experience, the ability to use hand and mechanical tools, and have a valid driver’s license. Physical fitness is required to perform manual tasks, and a strong work ethic, teamwork, and flexibility with work schedules are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience or passion in horticulture or landscaping
- Ability to use hand and mechanical tools
- Valid driver’s license
- Physically fit and capable of bending as well as lifting and carrying up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs)
- Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Flexible availability, some weekends required
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate in horticulture considered an asset
- Chemical applicators certification considered an asset
