Job Summary
Maintain hospital and clinic grounds by trimming trees, pruning shrubs, repairing fences, and operating heavy equipment like backhoes and tractors. Perform routine clean-up duties, manage irrigation systems, and apply fertilizers and pesticides while ensuring safety for employees, patients, and visitors. Check propane levels and water softeners, assist with maintenance projects, and set up meeting facilities as directed. Work under supervision at TON Health Care facilities, potentially requiring temporary relocation, and comply with all safety regulations and tribal laws.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations, and requirements
- Knowledge of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in grounds keeping and landscaping activities
- Knowledge of the principles and practices used in irrigation, planting, and gardening
- Knowledge of work hazards and safety procedures
- Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants
- Skill in the safe operation of power tools and equipment
- Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers
- Ability to use hand tools and lawn maintenance equipment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines
- Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules
- Ability to travel
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- One year of experience in groundskeeping or outside laborer experience
- Valid driver's license (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years)
- Possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license to operate program vehicles
- Demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham language and English as a condition of employment

- Heavy equipment experience preferred
