Job Summary
Responsible for the upkeep of hospital and clinic grounds, ensuring landscaping, irrigation, and outdoor facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Duties include trimming trees and shrubs, repairing fences, mowing lawns, maintaining irrigation and sprinkler systems, weed and pest control, soil preparation, plant care, seasonal clean-up, operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and power tools, and assisting with maintenance projects. Emphasizes safety for employees, patients, and visitors; compliance with safety rules; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; strong teamwork and customer service skills; ability to travel and work extended schedules as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- One year of experience in groundskeeping or outside laborer experience
- Heavy equipment experience preferred
- Criminal background and FBI fingerprint check requirement to determine suitability for employment
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years)
- May meet tribal employer insurance requirements to receive driver’s permit to operate program vehicles
- Fluency in Tohono O'odham language and English may be required based on department needs
