Job Summary
Maintain clean and beautiful grounds for school property by performing planting, trimming, watering, fertilizing, and lawn care. Operate assigned equipment including lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, blowers, tractors, and trailers to carry out daily and long-range work orders. Repair timers, control valves, sprinkler heads, and pumps while managing drip and irrigation systems. Clean and remove debris, litter, and snow from campus walks, sidewalks, roads, and driveways, and spread salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup. Weeding, cultivating shrubs and trees, preparing flower beds for annuals, planting grass and trees, and cleaning all gardens. Empty campus waste receptacles and clear drainage ditches and culverts. This twelve-month position reports to the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Fingerprint and background clearance
- Experience with computers; email and work order systems
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Effective communication skills and ability to understand and follow school policies
- Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of hand and power tools
- Ability to work alone and stay on task
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, exert 50lbs-60lbs of force, and push, pull or move objects
