Job Summary
Grounds Maintenance Worker responsible for a range of outdoor upkeep tasks including mowing, weed-eating, edging, blowing, planting foliage, mulching, shrubbery and tree maintenance (pruning and shaping), operation of various tools and equipment (saws, sprayers, air compressors, mowers, blowers, hedge trimmers), and maintaining clean, safe district property. Duties include equipment maintenance, irrigation system upkeep, trash removal, reporting maintenance or repair needs, ensuring safe operation of equipment, and responding to emergencies to prevent hazards. Strong emphasis on outdoor work, safety practices, and adherence to Catholic Church mission and policies as part of the Diocese of Orlando community. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outside, and pass a federal background check; working hours include evenings and weekends as needed; willingness to work under stress and perform physically demanding tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of grounds equipment operation
- Knowledge of proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA
- Must have repair skills for minor equipment
- Must be self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks
- Must pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred supplemented by experience in grounds maintenance or related tasks
