Job Summary
Operate power-driven ground maintenance equipment to mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields. Follow scheduled maintenance plans to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, and controlling weeds. Perform duties with equipment and hand tools, assist with athletic field preparation, and collect refuse from facilities. Comply with safety procedures, report hazardous situations, and respond to emergencies as needed. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, while maintaining a neat appearance. This role supports Alief Independent School District's maintenance services department.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license with a safe driving record to pass a DMV check
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Knowledgeable of the procedures required for the care and maintenance of the athletic fields, playgrounds, lawns, shrubs, and general landscape maintenance
- Knowledgeable of specific chemicals and proper mixing procedures (follow direction on labels)
- Knowledgeable of proper operating procedures for all grounds equipment and tools
- Knowledgeable of safety requirements for grounds care
- Ability to work in exposure to all weather conditions
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting 75-100 pounds with the assistance of another person
- Frequent carrying up to 25 pounds and occasionally carrying over 30 pounds
- Work outside 100%
