Job Summary
Grounds Specialist responsible for managing cemetery and funeral home grounds, including mowing, snow removal, lawn care, and maintenance to maintain overall appearance. Operates lawn and grounds equipment (mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers), removes debris, and participates in interment-related team duties. May be involved in disinterment, grave layout with assistance, and minor repairs to cemetery/building systems. Ensures safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA, cremation regulations). May assist in moving and installing burial vaults and perform related tasks as needed. Requires teamwork and effective communication with associates and client families.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months relevant experience
- Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment (shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower)
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Physically agile and dexterous
- Ability to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner
- Ability to effectively work with others to accomplish tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel and client families
- Basic computer skills to enable retrieving and responding to email communications
