Job Summary
Maintain airport grounds and facilities by performing routine and non-routine tasks including mowing, landscaping, tree trimming, pavement repairs, fencing, painting, and snow management. Comply with all SARAA, FAA, and TSA safety, security, and operational regulations while utilizing radio communications for safe airfield movements. Complete general equipment maintenance, custodial duties, sign maintenance, lighting, and carpentry as delegated by proper authority. Provide complementary customer service consistent with Airport Customer Service Standards. Work Monday through Friday between 6:30 am and 3:00 pm, averaging 25 hours weekly, with potential availability requests for off-hours or days based on seasonal projects.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Demonstration of comprehension of yearly FAA, TSA, and SARAA required training
- Passing a (10-year) background and criminal investigation in order to be issued an Airport Identification Badge
- Possession of a valid PA driver's license with a good driving history or ability to obtain a PA license within 30 days of hire date
- Ability to retain and follow spoken and written instructions
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, spoken, or diagram form
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish the full visual color spectrum
- Willingness and ability to use the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to his or her daily assignment
- Ability to work in extreme outside weather conditions and possible long hours as well as around moving mechanical parts, in precarious places, and with the risk of electrical shock and vibration
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, FAA tower operators, other departments, contractors, and consultants
- Ability to use ground and maintenance radio communication equipment requiring correct terminology and the ability to speak clearly and concisely
- Basic math skills
