Job Summary
Supports daily groundskeeping operations and assists in landscaping, arboriculture, concrete and asphalt maintenance, snow and ice management, and outdoor facilities and playground maintenance. Tasks include mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing, weed control, trash/debris pickup; operate handheld tools and small engine equipment; prepare athletic fields and outdoor spaces for events; assist with seasonal landscaping; coordinate event setup and cleanup; monitor and report needs; maintain on-call status for snow/ice management; facilitate safe operations and use of the district work order system; serve as a custodian floater as needed; training completion after 180 days may lead to reclassification to Groundskeeper I. Requires ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends and to pass Illinois Pesticide License General Standards exam; strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in English; 12-month ESSO position with salary starting at $16.50/hr.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Illinois Driver's License
- Ability to operate grounds equipment safely
- Experience in horticulture, landscaping, or sports fields (1-3 years) preferred
- Pesticide License General Standards exam
- Basic computer knowledge
- English written and verbal communication
