Job Summary
Conduct manual tasks for construction and maintenance of overhead power lines, including digging trenches, setting poles, installing wires and transformers, and performing routine maintenance checks. Assemble materials on the ground and hoist them into the work area using handlines. Assist crew members filling pole holes and trenches, flag traffic, and set up job sites as directed. Maintain organization of tools and materials on work vehicles and clean up job sites at completion. Requires Class A level experience installing underground power lines, a valid CDL A, and First Aid Certification. Must pass drug, alcohol, and background checks, and a physical examination. Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice, work in all weather conditions, and work overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Class A level experience installing and maintaining underground power lines
- First Aid Certification
- Competency in CPR and pole top rescue
- Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews
- Understanding of the utility industry and operations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- High level of professionalism and integrity
- Excellent leadership and management skills
- Ability to make decisions
- Ability to process and analyze data
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, climb, stoop, stand, and lift for long periods of time
- Substantial movements of the hands, wrists, and/or fingers
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform job duties
- Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice
- Able and willing to work for extended periods in various locations
- Able and willing to work in all types of weather environments including inclement weather
- Able and willing to work overtime when required
- Must be able to pass drug, alcohol, and background checks
- Must be able to pass a physical examination
