Ground Support Mechanic II

Job Summary
Service and operate assigned ground support equipment including tugs, forklifts, boom lifts, and power converters. Perform equipment troubleshooting, repair, and periodic inspections per manufacturer recommendations. Conduct compliance inspections on life safety equipment, environmental storage areas, and tooling. Execute basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and sheet metal fabrication on plant facilities. Perform light janitorial duties and any other tasks assigned by the Facilities and GSE Maintenance Liaison. Travel is primarily local with occasional out-of-area trips. This industrial role involves heavy work, frequent lifting up to 70 pounds, and working outdoors with occasional night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- At least two (2) years documented work experience on automotive, heavy mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
- Valid driving license with clean driving record
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although occasionally some out-of-area or overnight travel is to be expected for business
- Frequent lifting requirements for all levels of work is 20lbs
- Lift up to 70 pounds
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching
- Standing
- Repetitive movements of arms and hands
- Sit with back supported
- Submit to a screening test to detect the presence of drugs (marijuana, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, phencyclidine/ PCP)
- Offers of employment are conditioned on a negative result
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a formal training program in automotive or heavy equipment mechanics, or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in the aviation industry
- EPA HVAC Certification
- Prior experience and/or certification in maintaining industrial HVAC, Hazardous Waste Collection , and Electrical / Mechanical equipment
- Light fabrication and welding skills
