Job Summary
Perform structural fitting and precision fit-up, then align, clamp, and prep steel for weld-out on ground-level tank construction projects. Execute high-quality SMAW and GMAW welds using 6010/Fluxcore, reading blueprints and weld symbols while operating grinders, torches, and gouging tools. Work primarily at ground level with minimal height exposure, traveling nationwide with a professional field crew. This role requires passing an ASME Section IX weld test and is suitable for serious field craftsmen seeking steady travel work and a career path to Lead Fitter, Lead Welder, or Foreman.
Required Qualifications
- Strong SMAW skills (must pass weld test – ASME Section IX)
- Ability to read a tape, blueprints, and weld symbols
- Experience with grinders, torches, and gouging
- Ready to travel and work 40+ hours with overtime
