Job Summary
Ground Service Equipment Mechanic responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing ground services equipment used to support airport operations; performing scheduled preventative maintenance; diagnosing and troubleshooting with test equipment and manuals; completing work assignments and related forms; operating forklift and tow equipment; cleaning up oil spills and disposing of fluids properly; and performing other duties such as aircraft fueling, deicing, and cargo handling as assigned. Strong reading of diagrams, good communication, ability to work under pressure, and willingness to work outdoors in various weather are required. Aviation experience is a plus; paint and body experience is preferred; candidate must have a roll-a-way toolbox and meet tool requirements; must be 18+ with a valid U.S. driver’s license, and able to obtain authorization to work in the U.S. Must pass background check and pre-employment drug test. The position is based in Traverse City, MI at Avflight Traverse City with on-site, in-person work in an airport environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Ground Service Equipment mechanic
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must pass background check
- pre-employment drug test
- valid Driver's license with a good driving record
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to read and work from diagrams
- Communication skills
- Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment
- Paint and body experience preferred
- Must have own roll-a-way tool box and meet minimum tool requirements
