Ground Operations Coordinator

Job Summary
Calculate aircraft weight and balance prior to flight departure and coordinate all phases of aircraft handling, including catering, cleaning, fueling, and crew boarding. Monitor flight activity, record daily records, and provide principal communications between ramp operations and customers. Conduct operational safety and load security checks, track gate activity, and manage towing operations while ensuring resources are allocated to meet demands. Report unserviceable ground support equipment to maintenance and maintain Service Level Agreement statistics. This role requires physical stamina to lift items up to 70 pounds, work in all weather conditions, and communicate effectively via radio with crew and airport authorities.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 (if work location is in the United States)
- Authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001 (if work location is in Canada)
- Ability to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency (if required by customer or role access)
- Completion of ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- Ability to lift / carry / push / pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively
- Ability to lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces
- Ability to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs
- Ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- Ability to work in cramped or high places
- Ability to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises
- Ability to provide direction and support to their team to complete all required tasks proficiently and safely
- Ability to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew
- Ability to calculate weight and balance calculations for planes
- Ability to use computer systems to track cargo and baggage
- Ability to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading
- Ability to manage their time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
