Job Summary
Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic exam by sectioning embedded tissue with a microtome, mounting sections, and performing routine and special staining procedures. Operate and maintain manual and automated instruments while documenting equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, and quality control procedures. Report accurate and timely test results, document problems affecting test performance, and perform corrective actions in adherence to laboratory SOPs and safety protocols. This PRN/Casual position in Phoenix, AZ requires a Bachelor's degree in Histology or a related science with histology experience, with hours varying as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Histology OR a Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
- 1 or more years of histology experience
Desired Qualifications
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- Histology and/or ASCP certifications
- Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
- Immunohistochemistry experience
- Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens
- Ability to accurately read all labels and documents
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
- Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
