Job Summary
The Grooming Salon Leader at Petco oversees day-to-day grooming salon operations and leads the grooming team to deliver expert grooming services, ensuring exceptional customer experiences and pet care. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising staff; creating efficient grooming schedules; monitoring performance metrics (revenue, customer satisfaction, productivity); collaborating with store management to achieve sales targets; and performing professional grooming tasks (bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning) while ensuring safety and the well-being of every animal. The role emphasizes coaching and developing both entry-level and seasoned groomers, maintaining high standards of grooming quality, adhering to Petco policies, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. Qualifications emphasize grooming expertise, breed knowledge, leadership ability, communication skills, and a commitment to pet welfare. The position is based in Sterling, VA, and requires full-time availability, including weekends and holidays, in a standard grooming salon setting.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience as a professional groomer
- 1-2 years salon management experience (preferred)
- High-school diploma or GED preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Expert knowledge of dog breeds and grooming standards
- Breeds-specific cuts and grooming techniques
- Ability to work full-time, including weekends/evenings
- Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments
- Safety, quality, and sanitation adherence
