Job Summary

Operate Prinoth snowcats to maintain slope quality under the direction of the Grooming & Snowmaking Supervisor, adhering to the 'Grooming Training Manual' and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation. Report for scheduled shifts in flexible evening, weekend, and holiday rotations from October through May, completing all introductory online and experiential training. Identify and report safety concerns to ensure employee and guest safety while managing adverse weather conditions. Maintain professional deportment and excellent customer service skills when interacting with on-hill patrons.

Required Qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Experience operating Prinoth snowcats (or other similar heavy machinery)
  • Must possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Enjoy working outdoors in the winter
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Alberta Intermediate First Aid (IFA) certificate (or better, or equivalent)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or better) in good standing
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required
  • Must be able to work outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to work 4 afternoons/evenings out of 7 per week from October through to May each operating season
  • Must be able to work unsupervised
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must be able to perceive needed tasks and complete them without direction
  • Must be able to identify strengths and gaps in own abilities and training
  • Must be able to use taught skills and previous experience to problem solve
  • Must be able to take direction
  • Must be able to point out any safety concerns that would put any employee or guest in an unsafe situation
  • Must conduct themselves in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to their job
  • Must be able to deal with all on-hill patrons
  • Must have a demonstrated temperament and disposition for sometimes highly stressful situations
  • Must be self-aware
  • Must be motivated
  • Must be able to work outdoors in the winter
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others

Desired Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude (a background in mechanical experience preferred)
  • Ski Industry experience (an asset)
  • Mechanical background (an asset)
