Groomer/Snowmaker I

Job Summary
Operate snowmaking equipment and grooming vehicles to create durable, safe ski surfaces across the resort's slopes. Perform pre-operational inspections, warm-up procedures, and daily logging for all machinery, including snowmobiles and grooming vehicles. Execute safe set-up, take-down, and de-icing of equipment while managing snow fencing and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment damage to supervisors. Conduct proper machine application and evaluate grooming techniques to maximize slope protection and efficiency. Work evening and night shifts from 4pm to 12am or 12am to 9am, enduring extreme weather, heavy physical labor, and extended periods of standing or walking up to eight hours daily.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of high school, trade school, or equivalent
- One to two years mechanical experience, with basic knowledge of tools, hand, power, torches, etc.
- Able to become qualified in the operation of a snowmobile
- One to two years of experience as an equipment operator
- Work schedule primarily during evening and night hours after the resort is closed
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds repetitively
- Able to work while standing and walking for extended periods, up to 6 to 8 hours daily
- Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature
- Ability to see, walk, bend, lift, and climb into and around the grooming machines
- Ability to physically withstand constant negative gravitational pull while operating equipment
- Ability to withstand occasional vibrations, jarring, anxiety from poor visibility, and constant engine noise
- Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque while shoveling snow to clear grooming machine
- Job may require working weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand times
- Non-smoking environment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior snowmaking and grooming experience not required but preferred
