Job Summary
As a Petco Groomer (Pet Stylist), perform expert-level professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. Prioritize safety and well-being of animals, provide exceptional customer service to pet parents, and educate owners on grooming maintenance. Maintain a clean, disinfected salon, operate grooming tools (clippers, blades, shears, dryers), and adhere to Petco policies. May train, supervise, or support entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader. Requires grooming expertise, knowledge of breed standards, and the ability to work under moderate supervision; weekend/evening availability and a passion for animal care are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
- Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
- Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving in routine to moderately complex situations
- Results-driven with commitment to productivity and ownership of the grooming role
- Strong attention to detail and breed-specific grooming knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and team members
- Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
