Job Summary
Supervise and ensure guest service, merchandising programs, and departmental operations are maintained in the grocery department. Achieve budgeted sales, wage percent, and profits while maintaining desired inventory levels to maximize sales and minimize excessive stock. Operate the department according to guidelines, ensure product quality meets standards, and maintain sanitation and safety throughout the area including the backroom. Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to staff to achieve satisfactory performance standards. Control grocery shrink through stock loss programs, conduct price audits for proper scanning, and ensure advertised items are available and scanning correctly. Prepare the department for inventory and work with the Store Manager and Receiver to maintain product levels and conditions. Perform product stocking, guest service, and all other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing personality
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. consistently and 60 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to read and understand information and direction
- 1-3 years of supermarket knowledge
- Ability to supervise people including training and development
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
- Effective communication, guest service and selling skills
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts and operate pallet jack for extended periods of time
