Job Summary
Supervise and ensure guest service, merchandising programs, and departmental operations are maintained in the grocery department. Achieve budgeted sales, wage percent, and profits while maintaining desired inventory levels to maximize sales and minimize excessive stock. Operate the department according to guidelines, ensuring product quality meets standards and sanitation is upheld throughout the area. Provide guidance, orientation, and training to staff to achieve satisfactory performance standards. Control grocery shrink through stock loss programs and conduct price audits to verify proper pricing and scanning. Prepare the department for inventory and work with the Store Manager and Receiver to maintain vendor product conditions. Perform product stocking and guest service as necessary, while maintaining staffing and scheduling standards.
Required Qualifications
- Friendly, outgoing personality
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. consistently and 60 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to read and understand information and direction
- 1-3 years of supermarket knowledge
- Ability to supervise people including training and development
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
- Effective communication, guest service and selling skills
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts and operate pallet jack for extended periods of time
