Job Summary
Set up, operate, and tend grinding tools to remove excess material, sharpen edges, or polish metal pieces. Examine work pieces for defects, move grinders over surfaces to remove scratches, and polish areas with finer abrasives. Replace worn disks and wheels, select appropriate abrasive grades per specifications, and assist in other production areas as needed. Follow all safety procedures while working in a fast-paced machine shop environment with dust and grease. Work overtime, including weekends, and wear required personal protective equipment. High school diploma and one to two years of manufacturing experience required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 – 2 years manufacturing experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possesses basic technical knowledge of grinding tools and their safe operation
- Able to follow directions precisely and perform repetitive tasks
- Machine shop work environment; dust, grease and metal shavings common
- Requires the use of the following personal protective equipment: Safety glasses, steel toed shoes/boots
- Must be able to: Work safely in a fast paced environment
- Work overtime, including weekends as requested
