Job Summary
Grinder Operator on 1st shift responsible for setting up and operating centerless grinding machines to meet precise outside-diameter specs. Reads blueprints, selects and mounts grinding wheels, computes dimensions for cuts, performs basic machine maintenance, inspects finished pieces, and ensures production quality. Reports to the Department Supervisor/Manager. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read blueprints/schematics, strong math/measurement skills, micrometers or scales proficiency, precision-focused mechanical aptitude, quick hand-arm coordination, problem recognition for equipment, and effective communication. Physical demands include standing, with occasional lifting of 50–70 pounds; manufacturing-floor environment with required eye and hearing protection. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Strong understanding of math, measurements, and use of micrometers or scales
- Demonstrate strong mechanical skills and precision
- Coordinate hand and arm movements quickly to manipulate objects
- Recognize when equipment is malfunctioning or likely to fail
- Communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Stand/walk for extended periods and lift 50-70 pounds as needed
- Experience operating centerless grinding machines and setting up grinding wheels (as described)
