Job Summary
Set up, operate, and maintain industrial grinding machines, manual Sunnen honing machines, and CNC honing machines. Select appropriate grinding wheels, diamond tooling, and stones while performing quality control checks on finished products. Monitor the grinding process, inspect components, and ensure strict adherence to safety regulations including proper use of PPE and machine interlocks. Read engineering drawings, use measuring equipment, and work with minimal supervision. This first-shift role (5:45am–2:15pm) requires 1–3 years of experience operating grinding machinery and the ability to work overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 1-3 years minimum related work experience or formal training
- Ability and experience operating and maintaining grinding machinery
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to operate a grinding machine
- Ability to use measuring equipment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions
- Regularly required to stand and reach the duration of shift, 8-10 hours
- Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend
- Frequently required to perform repetitive or short-cycles work
- Regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Understands and observes all necessary safety procedures: safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc. as designated in specific work area assigned
