Job Summary
Operate chipping, grinding, and cutting equipment to remove projections and surplus metal from sand castings. Set up band saws, abrasive saws, grinders, and portable pneumatic tools while using hand tools like hammers and files. Report production quantities, inspect work for defects, and document actions on quality forms. Maintain a safe environment by complying with procedures and conserving resources. Train others in machine operator tasks as needed. Shift runs from 1:30pm to 10:00pm with a starting pay of $20 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools
- Experience using a grinder, saw or other similar equipment
- Must be willing to wear a grinding jacket, safety sleeves, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe shoes
- Must be able to read and interpret work instructions
- Must be able to effectively communicate with supervisor regarding manufacturing processes
- Must have ability to operate a variety of machinery
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Holds a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis floor to shoulder
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis floor to chest
- Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally has 6+ months of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a foundry
