Job Summary
The Great Start Readiness Program Associate Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering daily preschool activities for the 2026/2027 school year, with face-to-face leadership Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM. Responsibilities include developing and leading daily lesson plans, actively engaging children, communicating with parents, preparing materials, maintaining attendance records, supervising children, supporting parent-teacher conferences, coordinating with the classroom team, and performing other duties to ensure smooth program operation in YMCA settings. Requires a degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA, 6 months to 1 year childcare experience (or equivalent), and competencies in interacting with diverse groups, working with infants to preschoolers, and basic computer software use. Certifications include Blood Borne Pathogen training, CPR within 60 days, First Aid within 60 days, and background clearances as required by state regulations. Travel is minimal (0–5% local; some out-of-state travel for conferences/training). Required Qualifications
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA required
- Six months to one year childcare related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
- Ability and desire to work with infants, toddlers, and preschool children
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications
