Job Summary
Lead the Grants Manager by prospecting new funding sources, developing compelling grant proposals, and managing the organization's grant portfolio to secure revenue from government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Maintain a master calendar of opportunities, research revenue streams, and collaborate with Operations and Finance to align strategies with organizational priorities. Track reporting deliverables, manage program budgets, and ensure compliance with funder requirements while cultivating long-term relationships with stakeholders. Work evenings to support club activities and events as part of a standard full-time schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, fundraising, public administration, or related field preferred
- At least three years of experience effectively prospecting for grants, stewarding grant officer relationships, and writing and submitting grant proposals and reports
- Demonstrated success in managing grant portfolios and securing funding from diverse sources (government, foundations, corporations, civic groups, and local businesses)
- Strong technical writing ability, with proven expertise in developing compelling, fundable proposals and detailed reports
- Project management skills, including the ability to marshal resources and information from diverse staff, departments, and county-based operations
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and projects, and proactively move work forward with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
- Comfortable interpreting charts, graphs, and budgets, and extrapolating relevant insights for grant proposals and reports
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and consistent access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
- Required to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Physically capable of performing programming activities and club duties on-site, including standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, bending, and reaching
- Requires the ability to work on a computer for extended periods (8+ hours), including performing tasks that involve repetitive motion, visual focus, and fine motor skills
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor the environment and ensure safety standards are maintained
- Mental resilience and the ability to stay focused and effective in a busy, sometimes noisy environment
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with children, family members, and other staff
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (occasionally)
- Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Continued employment is contingent upon passing randomized drug screenings
- Continued employment is also contingent on the Florida State Department of Children and Families' employment designation of 'eligible for employment' as a state-licensed youth-serving organization
