Job Summary
Grant Writer at NVFS will develop compelling proposals to secure funding from private foundations, corporate family and community foundations, and government funders; manage the full grant proposal process from research and writing to assembling materials and timely submission; collaborate with program, finance, and development teams to align funding with organizational priorities; conduct research on funding opportunities, create application checklists and timelines, coordinate data collection for reports, maintain grant files, and participate in supervision and cross-team activities to support donor engagement. The role emphasizes storytelling, strategy, and impact across a range of funding sources while working in a hybrid Falls Church, VA environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in English, Communications, Nonprofit Studies, Marketing, or related field
- Minimum two (2) years of grant writing or technical writing experience in nonprofit or related human services setting
- Demonstrated project management experience with ability to manage complex, multi-step projects
- Excellent writing, editing, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to collaborate across programs and departments to gather information and develop narratives
- Proficiency in translating data and program information into compelling narratives
- Familiarity with GrantNavigator and/or Monday.com is a plus but not required
- Fluency in English; other languages welcome
- Digital proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite

- Background checks upon hire; may be required to work beyond normal hours
