Job Summary
Grant Writer to support Kinexus Group’s MiWorks! team in pursuing federal, state, and local grants across multiple subsidiaries. Responsibilities include collaborating with program staff to gather information and outcomes data, preparing clear and competitive narratives for grant applications, LOIs, and funder reports, assisting in program-budget development, assembling grant applications with narratives and supporting documents, conducting prospect research to identify funding opportunities, tracking submission deadlines and reporting requirements, maintaining grant records, assisting with required grant reports, supporting award management, and contributing to organizational materials for submissions. Preferred experience includes familiarity with government and foundation grants portals (e.g., SAM, grants.gov, JustGrants, NexSYS), data analysis, and budget development. Key skills include effective written and verbal communication, technical writing, editing, proofreading, strategic thinking, problem solving, and independent task management. The role involves flexible on-site presence with occasional remote work, and a culture focused on learning, growth, and inclusive collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and/or experience
- Proven experience in grant writing and program development
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills in technical writing, editing, and proofreading
- Strategic thinker
- Ability to solve problems and recommend solutions to overcome challenges
- Ability to work independently, juggling a variety of tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
