Job Summary
Grant Development Specialist drives the Advancement & Public Strategies (APS) program’s grant lifecycle, coordinating planning, proposal development, and submission for public and private funders. Responsibilities include project management of proposal components, developing narratives that align with funder guidelines, conducting prospect research, coordinating cross-department efforts, maintaining grant-related data in SharePoint/TEAMS and Raiser's Edge, supporting reporting for private grants, and engaging with funders to build relationships. The role supports departmental administration, includes travel as needed, and contributes to a strategic, growth-oriented fundraising program within a nonprofit focused on empowering survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of education
- Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in professional or technical writing
- Experience in developing funding proposals, narrative writing, and/or grant writing
- Experience working in a mid-to large nonprofit agency preferred
- Experience with federal, state, and/or local government funding opportunities preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations using personal transportation
- Computer savvy and ability to learn new applications and systems quickly
- Strong data-entry skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies and procedures
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
