Grant Accountant - Consulting (6-9+ Months)

Job Summary
Grant Accountant for nonprofit project support on a 6-9+ month temporary assignment. Responsible for tracking and managing financial activity for multiple grants in accordance with grant agreements and nonprofit accounting standards; monitoring grant budgets; preparing grant financial reports for internal leadership and external funders; setting up and maintaining grant accounts; reconciling grant-related accounts; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and private grant guidelines; assisting with grant billing, invoicing, and reimbursement requests; supporting audit preparation; maintaining organized grant documentation; and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes related to grant activity. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of nonprofit/grant accounting experience, knowledge of grant compliance, proficiency with accounting software, strong Excel, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit or grant-funded environment.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and grant compliance requirements.
- Experience with federal or state grant reporting is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MIP, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) or other grant compliance frameworks.
- Experience preparing grant budgets and financial reporting for funders.
- Strong communication skills for working with program and finance teams.
