Job Summary
Prepare accurate drawings, surveys, and service layouts for single-phase power connections and joint use projects. Coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure compliance with utility standards while managing documentation and communications. Provide technical support for pre-engineering locates, load analyses, and streetlight data updates. Calculate cut and fill procedures for facility depths and heights using AutoCAD and field survey instruments. Issue service layouts, offer to connect letters, and Make Ready Memos for operations. Review joint use permit analyses and support invoicing processes. Manage email correspondence with stakeholders and confirm facility load analysis submissions. Post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology. OACETT certification required. 2-3 years of experience in hydro design and construction. Valid Class G Driver's License.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology or a related field
- Certification as a Certified Engineering Technician with Ontario's Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)
- 2-3 years of experience in overhead and underground hydro design and construction practices with an electrical utility
- 2-3 years of mapping, surveying, and staking experience in an electrical utility environment, combined with GIS and database programming experience
- Working knowledge of electrical policies and servicing procedures
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD drafting software including elevation, railway, and profile drawings, CAD overlay, Electronic Total Station, GPS Survey Instrument, and other field book surveying instruments (i.e. AutoCAD Raster, PLS Cadd, SpidaCalc, Customer Information System, GP financial software, and Meter Sense)
- Familiarity with overhead and underground material and construction / framing and guying standards, as well as Electrical Safety Code and CSA standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Access, and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
- Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and adapt to change
- Proven time management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines
- Valid Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record
