Job Summary
Establish long-term relationships with customers to pursue grain origination by developing an origination strategy for the territory and implementing targeted approaches through on-farm meetings, phone calls, and networking. Represent the company at the farm level, develop pricing strategies and promotions, and collaborate with operations and merchandising staff to ensure logistical execution and purchase grain. Collect grain samples to understand quality, monitor crop conditions, and provide timely service, marketing options, and advice to current and potential customers. Participate in daily forecasting, strategize sales and marketing efforts, and comply with contract and risk management practices while maintaining accurate records. Monitor customer and competitor activity and collaborate with the regenerative ag team. Requires a Certificate in Agriculture, minimum 3 years of Canadian grain industry experience, and a valid Class 5 driver's license. Includes 15% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of Certificate in Agriculture, Agri-Business certificate, or equivalent post-secondary education
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Canadian grain industry including marketing, operations, transportation & crop production
- Familiarity with futures markets and hedging
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation and risk management
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently to solve problems
- Ability to prioritize on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced math and computer skills
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work extra hours when required
- Must be proficient with MS Office programs
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license
