Job Summary
Operate grain elevator at a barge facility, loading/unloading barges and trucks and performing deckhand duties (reading drafts, tying off barges, and related tasks). Maintain grain quality during storage and transfer; complete timely documentation; perform general cleaning and preventative maintenance; operate or assist with heavy equipment and a variety of tasks as needed by daily facility needs. Abide by OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations and wear required PPE; adapt to 12-hour rotating shifts, extended hours, and outdoor/hard-wear conditions; strong mathematical, interpersonal, and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team in an industrial setting. Optional facility-specific duties may include unloading barges, moving product for storage, and operating heat/drying equipment as required by location. This role is based in Gladstone, IL and emphasizes safety, reliability, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced barge-loading environment.
Required Qualifications
- Education Required - High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience Required – None
- Preferred - 1 year experience in an industrial environment (not required)
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: basic mathematical skills; ability to follow directions; ability to work independently or in a team; ability to operate tools and heavy equipment; ability to read and interpret documentation
