Job Summary
Identify at-risk students using achievement, perception, and demographic data; monitor their behavior and attendance. Assist in completing Individual Graduation Plans and provide strategies to reduce risk factors. Analyze and track intervention plans while working with teachers to improve instruction through research-based methods. Communicate frequently with parents regarding academic performance and meet with students and families to discuss consequences and alternatives. Conduct individual and group counseling in areas of educational, career, or personal need. Develop relationships with post-secondary institutions and monitor job skills and work-based opportunities. Provide required reports to district and state departments while maintaining accurate records. Plan and develop professional development activities based on school needs.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree
- At least five (5) years of successful experience in education
- Louisiana requirements for a secondary teaching certificate
- Minimum of (5) years experience teaching diverse learners and/or at-risk students
Desired Qualifications
- Additional certification in school counseling, leadership, supervision or administration
- Ability to present professional development
