Job Summary

Collect patient data including vital signs, complete accurate documentation, and observe the implementation of patient care plans under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Collaborate with the RN on prioritizing patient needs, participating in patient/family education, and reporting responses to treatments to modify nursing interventions as required. Demonstrate understanding of the nursing process, legal/ethical implications of care, and confidentiality standards while working toward passing the State Boards examination. This 12-week role is part of the Intermountain Nurse Residency program at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, requiring BLS certification and enrollment in accredited nursing coursework. Candidates must pass the State Board exam twice to continue employment, with termination if licensure is not achieved or if the employee is not hired into another qualifying position.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Achieves Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and expectations
  • Must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program
  • Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
