Job Summary
Conduct direct patient care delivery under the line-of-sight supervision of a Registered Nurse, including collecting vital signs, completing accurate documentation, and observing the implementation of patient plans of care. Assess patient conditions, report significant changes, and collaborate with the RN on prioritization and interdisciplinary care modifications. Participate in patient/family education and medication administration as directed, while recognizing legal and ethical implications of care. Achieve Registered Nurse licensure within the Intermountain Nurse Residency program by passing the State Board examination within 12 weeks; failure to pass or secure another position results in termination. Requires BLS certification, manual dexterity for equipment manipulation, and ability to lift and ambulate patients in a busy clinical setting at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Achieves Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and expectations
- Must be enrolled and have started coursework in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
