Job Summary
Conduct patient care delivery under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs. Collect vital signs, complete accurate documentation, and participate in medication administration as directed. Collaborate with the RN on prioritizing patient care, developing interdisciplinary plans, and reporting patient responses to treatment modifications. Provide patient and family education based on assessments and diagnoses while maintaining confidentiality and complying with legal/ethical standards. Complete orientation and training requirements for the Intermountain Nurse Residency program while working toward passing the State Boards examination. This 12-week role is part of the Nurse Residency program at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, with a requirement to achieve RN licensure to continue employment.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
- Achieves Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and expectations
- Must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
- Must be able to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
- Must have manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Must be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Must be able to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Must be able to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Must be able to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
