Job Summary

Conduct patient care delivery under direct RN supervision, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs. Collect vital signs, complete accurate documentation, and participate in patient/family education as directed. Observe and discuss prioritization of patient needs and interdisciplinary care plans with the assigned RN. Recognize legal and ethical implications of care while maintaining confidentiality and complying with regulatory standards. Achieve RN licensure within the 12-week Intermountain Nurse Residency program by completing orientation, training, and state board examination requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing (RN) education program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Achieves Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in a timely manner per Intermountain Health standards and expectations
  • Complete orientation and training requirements
  • Successful progression through and completion of the Nursing Residency program
  • Pass the State Boards examination
  • Demonstrates understanding of the steps in the nursing process
  • Collects patient data (e.g., vital signs)
  • Completes accurate documentation
  • Observes and discusses with the RN the prioritization of patient needs
  • Observes the development and modification of the interdisciplinary plan of care
  • Reports patient responses to treatments
  • Collaborates with the RN regarding changes requiring modification of nursing interventions
  • Participates in patient/family education needs
  • Recognizes and demonstrates legal/ethical implications of care delivery
  • Complies with regulatory standards
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
  • Obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
  • Pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
