Job Summary

Graduate R&D Engineer focusing on System & Architecture for capacitive touch sensing (maXTouch) in automotive and industrial applications. Responsibilities include defining requirements for new silicon and firmware, developing system/architecture concepts for future touch solutions, analysing and optimising analogue and digital hardware, developing embedded software to control measurement systems and process data, investigating customer issues and delivering robust solutions, and producing clear technical documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams across global sites. The role offers training and growth through Microchip’s New College Graduate Programme, with travel up to 25% and opportunities to gain deep expertise in capacitive sensing, signal processing, and embedded systems.

Required Qualifications

  • BEng (or equivalent) in Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Graduates or candidates with up to 3 years’ experience in an electronics/software environment
  • Understanding of microcontroller architecture and embedded systems
  • Programming experience in C, Python, or similar languages
  • Basic knowledge of analogue electronics and digital design
  • Scripting skills (Python, Matlab, or similar)
  • Familiarity with AI tools is an advantage
  • Key competencies: analytical and problem-solving skills, clear communication, ability to work collaboratively in a team, curiosity and willingness to learn
