Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care activities for all age groups in the 4H Cardiac Progressive Care unit. Monitor and coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort while adhering to Mercy Health System guidelines, nursing practice standards, and state Nurse Practice Act requirements. Perform duties consistent with the Code of Professional and Business Ethics and Co-Worker Code of Conduct. Requires current RN license, BLS certification, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs with prolonged standing and walking. Full-time, 36-hour schedule includes 12-hour days from 7:00am to 7:30pm.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Other unit specific certifications as required
- Must be able to stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Must meet unit-specific physical demands
- Must be able to perform significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance
- Must be able to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements
- Must be prepared for high risk exposure to blood and body fluids
- Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to stand and walk each shift
- Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
