Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care activities for all age groups while monitoring and coordinating care with ancillary departments. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation, consistent with established guidelines, Mercy Health System goals, and the State Nurse Practice Act. Performs duties in Emergency, Med/Surg, ICU, Labor & Delivery, or Operating Room departments, adhering to Mercy Service Standards and the Code of Professional and Business Ethics. Requires eligibility for the board of nursing exam, current AHA Healthcare Provider card, and ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work differing shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from an approved or accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Must be eligible to take board of nursing exam
- Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period
- Must be able to stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Must be able to meet unit specific physical demands
- Must be able to perform significant amount of bending and stooping
- Must be able to lift and turn patients with assistance
- Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Must be able to kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Must be able to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency according to patient care requirements
- Must be able to work in a high risk exposure to blood and body fluids environment
