Graduate Intern - Electrical/Controls Engineer

Job Summary
Design electrical systems, electronic assemblies, and control panels for 3-phase 400V systems and HV DC while creating schematics, single line diagrams, and field wiring diagrams. Specify and select electrical components such as switchgear and protection devices, then support software integration, debugging, and firmware optimization for maximum performance. Develop testing specifications and commissioning procedures, coordinate with I/O circuits for main controllers and safety systems, and generate technical documentation. This graduate role supports build activities, troubleshooting, and system commissioning within a fast-growing London-based start-up focused on innovative battery storage solutions for commercial and industrial applications.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate Electrical, Electronics or Software Controls engineering student
- Hands-on experience in electrical, electronics, controls or automotive engineering
- Knowledge of micro-controllers and electrical system wiring
- Interest in computer science and software development, code in spare time
- Experience working with electrical and mechanical components
- Ability to work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
- Must be self-motivated and an effective team player
- Eligible to work in the UK
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally you are part of your university's Formula student team or have worked on projects related to automotive, motorsport or energy storage
- A basic understanding of High Voltage vehicle systems and safety
- Experience in a Formula student team
- Knowledge of battery system technology including cell chemistries, BMS etc
